STEM-spirational Virtual Careers Fair

STEM Learning, AECOM and Amazing Apprenticeships are inviting young people to attend "Apprentices: Earn while you Learn" virtual careers fair from 6-10 December 2021

Aimed at 14-19 year olds, the fair will showcase up to 30 employers offering apprenticeships and supporting students to be better informed about career pathways. Students will also be able to safely chat live with volunteers from the stands.

Young Professionals are hosting their biggest engineering careers event of the year for students in Year 10 to 13.

On Wednesday 8th December from 5:00pm - 7:00pm they're hosting their virtual Insight to Engineering Multi-Employer Event and will be joined by 5 of the biggest engineering companies in Siemens, Spectris, Vodafone, Equans and specialist university NMITE! This is an incredible chance for students to hear from world leading engineers from a number of global companies all in one evening.

Each company will speak for 20 minutes, giving an insight into their business and a taster of what it’s like working for the organisation.

It’s not very often they're able to bring such an incredible lineup of global organisations together into one event so they’re so excited to be able to put this together and share the opportunity with students.

Are you thinking about a career in construction? If so, Young Professionals have an amazing insight event for you.

On 9th December from 5:00pm - 6:00pm they will be hosting an insight session into one of the biggest construction firms in the world.

Mace Group Ltd, commonly known as Mace, is a global consultancy and construction firm headquartered in London, United Kingdom, employing approximately 5,000 people, across five continents with a turnover in excess of £2 billion.

Mace are involved in some of the most impressive building projects around the UK and the world and offer a variety of fantastic apprenticeship and graduate schemes. 

They will be hearing from the Deputy Chairman who will share insights into his background, career journey from growing up in the midlands to where he is now as Deputy Chairman and sharing experiences from his early career to date which has contributed to his success. Mark will finish by giving his advice on what he looks for in top talent.

They will also hear from a panel of current apprentices and graduates from within the company who will discuss what life is like within the firm and what the process of securing a position in the firm was like.

Applications are open for the online and national King’s College London Medicine and Dentistry Lecture Series 2022. This programme is for students across the UK in Year 11, 12, and 13 who have only attended non-selective state schools since age 11 and are currently studying biology or chemistry. 

Over the course of the 13 lecture programme students will hear from speakers working in varied specialities and at different career stages in healthcare. Last year’s lectures included topics such as cardiology, prosthodontics, renal transplant, as well as the medical student experience. The lecture series is designed to give students an understanding of the range of opportunities in medicine and dentistry and the realities of being a healthcare professional.

Students will also learn about the different elements of the application process, such as the UCAT, personal statements, and interviews.

Lectures will be held on Tuesday evenings at 6-7.15pm and will run in blocks of three throughout 2022. The first three lectures will take place on the 1st February, 8th February, and 15th February. The remaining three blocks of lectures will take place in Spring and Summer.

Anglian Water are one of the largest employers in the East of England and annually recruit apprentices, degree apprentices, graduates, interns and more. Due to the success of their recent insight webinars they have decided to run three apprentice sessions in December for people to find out more about their apprenticeship opportunities.

The webinar will give students an opportunity to find out about the types of apprenticeships that they regularly offer, what is involved in an apprenticeship and the recruitment process and a chance to hear from some of their current and past apprentices to see what they think an apprenticeship has to offer. There will be a Q&A available also. 
The webinars will last an hour, 5-6pm on 9th, 13th and 15th December and open to all.

The Leicester Spring UK University & Apprenticeship Fair will take place on Friday 18th March at King Power Stadium.

This event will feature a vast array of exhibiting universities, apprenticeship providers and colleges. For full details please see the attached document below – including the seminar schedules.

The fair provides students with all of the guidance they need, wherever they are in their decision making process. From choosing the right University/HE course, to enabling students to gain an overview of the range of academic and career pathways they can pursue.  Our event is ideal for Year 13s and 12s as well as to help inspire and motivate Year 11s. It is completely free of charge.

Our Leicester Spring UK University & Apprenticeship Search fair will feature:
- A multitude of exhibitors including Russell Group, modern institutions and apprenticeship providers.
- An extensive range of seminars including: UCAS personal statement, Higher and Degree Apprenticeships, Life at University and Student Finance.
 - Expert advice from university and apprenticeship providers.
- All students will be provided with a free online UK University & Apprenticeship Search Options Magazine and many other promotional items around the exhibition.

The University of Leicester has put together an online virtual healthcare work related project where students can find out more about the varied and rewarding careers available in the NHS, as well as what skills and qualifications they need to work in healthcare.

Students can complete the project in their own time and they will also have the opportunity to attend some live sessions, where they will be able to hear from healthcare professionals about their experiences and ask any questions they have. The project will launch on the following date:

·       Saturday 9th April 2022

The project is completely free and is open to all students in Years 10 - 13. All students who complete the project will receive a certificate of completion at the end. Students can sign up for this project by completing this short application form.
