Last week, Year 10 travelled to Kettering Business Academy and Year 7 played in a tournament.
Year 10 Match Report - Wednesday 6th October vs. KBA
The Year 10 team travelled to play their return fixture, having lost their home match against Kettering Business Academy 2 – 1 three weeks ago. Kingswood played into a strong wind in the first half, but defended resolutely and two goals on the counter attack from Tom Ferris put Kingswood 2 – 0 up and in a very strong position by half time. With the wind behind them in the second half, Kingswood began to dominate the game and further goals from Dylan Griffiths (a hat trick) and McAuley McBride sealed a comprehensive 7 – 0 victory and revenge for that earlier league defeat. Well done to all the players – Sean Littlejohn, Conor Gribben, Jordan Rosser, Josh Seymour, Lee Bruckman, Jay Ironmonger, Tiago Costa, Dylan Griffiths, Luke Smith, Tom Ferris, McAuley McBride, Kieran Huxtable and Travis Wolfenden. The team’s next fixture is on Wednesday 13th October at home to Bishop Stopford.
Year 7 Tournament
If Arsenal FC is the Mecca for aspiring youngsters then Kingswood School must be a future feeder school into the world of footballing fame, fortune and WAGS. With world class facilities akin to those of any premiership galactico and with coaches that rival the tactical acumen of even the great ‘tinker man’ himself, Claudio Ranieri, then it is no wonder Kingswood Yr 7’s uncorked a showering display of ‘champagne football’ at last week’s tournament.
Kingswood A enjoyed a harmonious relationship with victory, securing top spot to qualify for the district seeded finals night in 2 weeks whilst Kingswood B flirted tempestuously with success, finishing in joint 3rd alongside King John School.
Kingswood A’s first encounter was against Buccleuch Academy who so emphatically dismantled them last week. However, ‘beware of the wounded lion’, as this week was a different story with Kingswood being 3 goals to the good by half time. The goals came from Andrew Muir, Jo McBrearty and James Elder. The A side marched from strength to strength pulverising a deflated King John side before stamping their authority with a 2 – 0 win over their Kettering nemesis, Bishop Stopford, much to the raucous enjoyment of Mr Tristram. Match winning performances from Aidan Haggar and Jo Martin both of whom proved solid at the back all tournament earned Kingswood the right to qualify for the district finals.
Kingswood B’s revival from week 1 continued as they ran out winners against Buccleuch B and King John A. New boys Charlie Dawson and Jack Tipper did the damage by scoring either side of half time to inflict further losses on their district counterparts. CJ Tanga Gibson produced a battling display in the centre of the park and was at the heart of everything good whilst Regan Murray produced a goal keeping performance that even Roberto Mancini could not drop him for.
Well done to both teams on a very successful trio of tournaments over the last few weeks: James Elder, Joe McBrearty, Jack Tipper, Dan Smith, Jake Ward, Charlie Dawson, Taylor Holland, CJ Tanga Gibson, Connor Bromley, Aidan Haggar, Joe Martin, Adam Witkowski, Andrew Muir, Jamie Porter, Regan Murray & Dorde Tesanovic.
