Inclusion Department

The Kingswood School has a deservedly good reputation for assisting all students to achieve their full potential. The Inclusion Department underpins the whole school's drive to develop confident, mature individuals, any one of whom may have a special educational need at some time during their school career or even all the way through it.

The department provides a variety of support to address that continuum of special educational needs, ranging from those who may need some counselling or support for a very short while, right through to those students in the new DSP (September 2010) who have severe autism as their primary need.

This wide ranging 'umbrella' department consists of three main areas:

  • Educational Support - 1:1, small group, in-class support, counselling, mentoring.
  • DSP (Designated Special Provision) - individual programmes of learning for autistic students.
  • Study Centre - alternative curriculum for small groups of Year 10 and 11 students in particular.
