Art
Art plays an important part in the general education of a student, enabling them to express creativity, build self-confidence and develop visual awareness. As a department we strongly believe that it is important for students to see their artwork exhibited throughout the school in order to encourage, motivate, give meaning to and acknowledge their efforts. We have high expectations for all students and strive to enable them to achieve their full potential. Throughout our curriculum, our lesson planning endeavours to deliver stimulating and challenging projects that are carefully differentiated and taught in a visually exciting environment.
It is also important that the output of the department challenges and changes the school surroundings, and in turn creates a stimulating environment for both students and staff to work in.
Our Vision for the Art department is:
● To share its passion for the subject, subsequently engaging and enthusing every student whether engaged on an Art course or not.
● To raise awareness and knowledge of the career opportunities available in Art.
● To ensure that Art is perceived as a subject of academic parity with others.
● To raise the profile of the subject area and subsequent uptake at examination level.
● To expand the Department and its range of courses/facilities.
